Appeal for witnesses after man assaulted in Eastney

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted on Eastney Esplanade

 

At approximately 4.45pm on Friday 12 August, a man in his 20s was approached by three men in a white van on the beach side of the esplanade, opposite the Royal Marines Museum. 

 

He was then threatened and assaulted, leaving him with bruises and a number of stitches to his face following hospital treatment. 

 

The first man is described as: 

 

Aged between 35 and 45-years-old

6ft tall

White

Of large, muscular build

Bald

Wearing shorts and no shirt

Lots of tattoos on his arm and chest.

 

The second man is described as: 

 

Aged between 45 and 50-years-old

6ft tall

Asian

Of large, stocky build

Bald 

Black facial hair

Wearing a white t-shirt, dark shorts, dark shoes and sunglasses.

 

The third man is described as: 

 

6ft

White

Of large build

Short hair

Blue eyes

Wearing shorts and no shirt.

 

Police believe there was a number of people in the area at the time and would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or may have seen the white van or any other vehicle that was involved.

 

Police would also like to hear from anyone who was driving or cycling through the area at the time and has dash cam or camera footage that may assist with enquiries. 

 

As part of the investigation police have arrested a 51-year-old man from Waterlooville on suspicion of threats to kill and assault. He has been released from police custody but remains under investigation while enquiries continue.
