Police call in air support following fail to stop in Portsmouth this evening
A high police presence was seen around Fratton this evening after a vehicle made off from police officers in Fratton.
Around twenty police officers joined the search tonight following a pursuit where the occupants of a Silver Mini Cooper fled police.
Officers flooded the Fratton area close to Kingston Cemetery following the fail to stop, it’s believed the occupants decamped from the vehicle towards the Cemetery.
Police officers found the vehicle abandoned in Hampshire Street, Fratton following the pursuit, NPAS were called to to assist in the search however were unable to locate the occupants.
Around twelve police officers searched Kingston Cemetery whilst other units placed a containment around the perimeter of the grounds, after a extensive search police were unable to find the suspects.
Recovery agents were seen in Hampshire Street loading the vehicle onto a recovery truck, which has since been taken for forensics in an attempt to identify the driver.
The reason behind the police pursuit is currently unknown but information suggests it may have been stolen in a burglary.
