A man who is banned from entering a number of locations in Southampton City Centre has been jailed for shoplifting and breaching his Criminal Behaviour order on two occasions.
Obidullah Dustokheil, aged 34, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 29 December to 24 weeks in jail after admitting one count of shoplifting and two counts of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.
The court heard that Dustokheil, who was subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from entering a number of locations including WestQuay shopping centre, breached his order by entering John Lewis on Monday 13 and Thursday 16 December.
On 16 December, he also stole a quantity of perfume worth over £500 from John Lewis.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (29 December), Dustokheil was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment for shoplifting and 12 weeks imprisonment for two counts of breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order, making it a total of 24 weeks in jail.
Sergeant Sal Ferris from the Southampton City Centre team said “Dustokheil is a persistent offender and we know his behaviour has a negative impact on our local communities and businesses.
“I hope this sentence reassures businesses and local communities that we are committed to tackling persistent offenders and will work tirelessly to bring them to justice using all judicial methods available to us.
“Anyone seen to be breaching Criminal Behaviour Orders can expect to be brought back before a court where they could face a maximum of five years imprisonment.”
Dustokheil will remain subject of the Criminal Behaviour Order upon his release from prison, excluding him from entering areas including Above Bar, Below Bar, High Street, Commercial Road, West Quay, West Quay Retail Park and the city parks.
