Southampton West Neighbourhood Policing Team have set up a dispersal order to tackle anti-social behaviour in Millbrook

The dispersal order will cover an area that surrounds Mansel Park, including Windermere Avenue and Kendal Avenue.

It will be in place between 3pm today (10 February) for 48 hours, until 3pm on Saturday 12 February.

The order is in response to reports of anti-social behaviour described as groups of young people congregating around Millbrook Towers and causing damage.

The order gives police the power to disperse people involved in anti-social behaviour in the area.

The order also gives officers the power to seize anything used in the commission of anti-social behaviour.

Southampton West Neighbourhood Inspector Sarah Nicholson said: “We are responding to reports from residents and the community which is why we have authorised this order.

“Anti-social behaviour like this is having an impact on those living in Millbrook Towers and the surrounding areas. It’s not acceptable.

“The order has been authorised for 48 hours from 3pm this afternoon and covers the area shown in the map.

“This gives us the powers to disperse people under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 – meaning they have to leave the area.

“If considered appropriate, the power could be extended beyond the 48 hour period.

“We will be conducting high visibility patrols and conducting enquiries to identify those involved.

“If you see any of our officers in the area and you have information regarding who is involved, please do stop them and let them know.
