Hampshire crews called to fires at two nature reserves

 

Firefighters from across Hampshire have been tackled two large fires at nature reserves in the county.

 

Crews were called to a site off Hook Park Road, Warsash, at 4.47pm to deal with a fire involving grass and gorse.

At the height of the incident, four appliances and four off road 4×4 Land Rovers were in attendance.

 

An area approximately 150 metres by 100 metres has been destroyed.

 

Fire crews used jets and beaters to surround the blaze and remain on scene damping down.

 

In a separate incident, crews were called to Forest Front Nature Reserve in Hythe at 6.14pm.

Six fire appliances and two offroad 4×4 Land Rovers were in attendance, with crews working alongside Forestry England Rangers.

 

By 8.25pm the fire was surrounded with crews damping down.
