Fire crews from Basingstoke, Rushmoor, Sutton Scotney and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire involving the roof spaces of two houses in a terraced row in Abbey Road, Basingstoke
The call came in just after 2.30pm after smoke could be seen coming from the roof.
People living in the adjacent properties were evacuated while firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets to tackle the fire. The aerial ladder was also in use.
The stop message was received at 5.55pm and crews began to return to station after carrying out community safety work.
The incident was handed over to the local authority who were on scene to support residents.
