Firefighters were called after mayday call from light aircraft on Isle of Wight

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received the call today at 1.01pm after the landing gear of a light aircraft failed to engage.
The Pipper twin Comanche aircraft performed a controlled belly landing with landing gear up, on runway 23 Isle of Wight Airport, Sandown.
No action taken by fire service inspection only.
Pilot landed the aircraft safely.
The Civil Aviation Authority have been approached for comment.
