Crews from Basingstoke and Tadley were called at 12:27am on Saturday morning to Brighton Hill Centre after smoke was seen emanating from a flat
Adjacent flats were evacuated with one occupant led to safety by firefighters after receiving fire survival guidance from HIWFRS control room operators, as they were unable to escape.
The blaze was stopped using three hose reels and two jets, with firefighters wearing six sets of breathing apparatus and using ventilation fans to clear smoke.
Firefighters left the scene at 2:03am after completing Safe & Well visits within neighbouring flats.
A joint police and fire investigation is underway to establish the cause.
