Police have closed a major road in Lee on Solent following a serious collision along Marine Parade West following what is understood to be a hit and run
Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service were called at around 2.00pm to reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle, on arrival paramedics requested assistance from the critical care team of Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance to administer life saving treatment to the casualty.
The incident happened close to the Hovercraft Museum entrance along Lee on Solent seafront.
Bystanders explained the incident as horrific after seeing a member of the public rush to a nearby location to obtain a defibrillator prior to paramedics arrival, police have closed the road in both directions between the junctions of Richmond Road and Daedalus Drive.
Police will remain at the scene for sometime whilst an accident investigation is carried out, police are advising motorists to avoid the area whilst they carry out the investigation and the road will remain closed for sometime.
