Police investigating the serious assault of a teenage boy in Portsmouth city centre this evening (Saturday 25 January) are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Police were called at 5.24pm to a report that the 16-year-old had been located on Commercial Road with a suspected stab wound to his chest. It was reported that the incident had taken place a short time earlier on Arundel Street. He has been taken to hospital for treatment, and is in a serious but stable condition at the current time.
Specialist officers have been deployed to the area to ensure the safety of members of the public and police at the scene. We remain in the area carrying out enquiries and there are currently police scenes in place on Commercial Road and Arundel Street.
