A police car was hit by a passing motorist during a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle in Portsmouth on Sunday afternoon, leading to a dramatic manhunt.
The incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on Norway Road, near the junction of Sywell Crescent in the Hilsea area. Officers were reportedly in pursuit of a stolen car when the police vehicle was struck by another motorist.
The stolen vehicle was spiked but failed to stop, eventually colliding with a parked car on Beechwood Road, which brought the pursuit to an end. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.
A large-scale manhunt was quickly launched, involving ground units and a police helicopter, as officers combed the Hilsea area, including nearby gardens, in search of the individuals involved. It is believed that at least one suspect has been apprehended.
Police have been contacted for further details, and it remains unclear if any additional arrests have been made or if there were any injuries in the collision.
More updates are expected as the situation develops.
