Following a recent CCTV appeal to help police identify a male in relation to a sexual assault in Fareham
Officers from Fareham have now identified the male and made an arrest in relation to offences.
It was reported to police that a 17-year-old girl had got on the X5 First Bus from Fareham to Locks Heath on the afternoon of Friday 4 March, when she was sexually assaulted over her clothing by a man she did not know.
Last month police put out an image of a man they wanted to identify in connection with this incident. Police have today confirmed that they have now identified the man in the image.
Officers had previously arrested a 40-year-old man from Portsmouth on suspicion of sexual assault as part of this investigation. He has since been released with no further action.
Following enquiries, officers have arrested a 41-year-old man from Otterbourne on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been bailed with conditions until 17 June whilst police pursue further lines of enquiries.
