He also admitted to seven counts of theft from various shops, including M&S, Superdrug, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons, where he stole over £750 worth of goods such as alcohol, furniture, cosmetics, and meat between 13 June and 7 July.
At Winchester Crown Court on 20 September, Carter was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison.PC Annie Brogan, from CID North, who led the burglary investigation, praised the officers involved.
“Breaking into someone’s home is an intrusive crime, causing immeasurable distress. I hope this result helps the victims to move forward.
Carter’s shoplifting offences also demonstrate the serious impact on local businesses, and this sentencing sends a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated.”
