Man Dies Following Collision Between Mercedes And Electric Bike In Southampton
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a road traffic collision in Southampton.
Officers were called at 8.16pm on Wednesday 8 July following reports of a collision on the A3057 Romsey Road.
The incident involved a white Mercedes, which was travelling westbound towards Lordshill Roundabout, and an Allegro electric pedal bike, which had travelled from a pathway leading from Boniface Crescent onto Romsey Road.
The cyclist, a man aged in his 30s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 40-year-old man from Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving. He remains in custody at this time.
Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the collision, captured dashcam footage, or has any information that could assist their enquiries to contact 101, quoting reference 44260325641.
