Family pay tribute to ‘kind and loving’ grandmother found dead at Portsmouth home

The family of a 74-year-old woman who died at a home in Portsmouth have paid an emotional tribute, describing her as a “wonderful mother, grandmother and sister”.

Carole Langley was pronounced dead after emergency services were called to an address in Cyprus Road, Fratton, shortly before 10am on Monday, September 14, following a reported domestic incident.

Police attended the property and a cordon was established while officers began enquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Carole’s family have now released a tribute remembering her as a kind and loving woman who always put those closest to her first.

They said: “Carole was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a kind and loving person who always put her family and loved ones before herself.

“Her love, kindness and beautiful memories will live on in all of us.

“The family would like to thank everyone who have left kind messages of condolence but please ask to respect our privacy at this very difficult time.”

They added that Carole “will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

”Scott Langley, 48, of St Pauls Road, Southsea, was subsequently charged with murder on Wednesday, September 16.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today,
