Two brothers have been jailed after committing a catalogue of sexual assaults and rape over two decades

Andrew Clark, 38, and younger brother Jason Clark, 35, between them preyed on six vulnerable children over a period of 25 years, subjecting them to horrendous sexual assaults.

They were found guilty of the offences which started in the late 1990s and only ended after reports were made to the police.

Andrew and Jason denied ever assaulting the children, claiming the reports were all lies.

Both brothers appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday 5 April, after being convicted on 9 September 2021 following a three-and-a-half-week trial.

Andrew was found guilty of three counts of indecent assault of a child under 14, indecent assault of a male on five occasions, attempted rape, sexual assault of a child under 13, sexual assault of a child, three counts of rape of a child under 16, rape of a child and indecent assault of a child.

Jason was convicted of four counts of indecent assault of a child under 14 and two counts of rape on a child under 16.

The brothers were also found guilty of jointly raping a child under 16 on two occasions.

Andrew Clark, formerly of Bilborough, was sentenced to 23-and-a-half-years in prison.

Jason Clark, also formerly of Bilborough received a 10-year prison sentence.

They were also both added to the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Andrew must also abide by a sexual harm prevention order until further notice.

Detective Constable Ruth Statham, of Nottinghamshire Police, who led the investigation said: “I would like to recognise the bravery of the victims and the witnesses in this case for coming forward and speaking out.

“They have all acted selflessly to protect other people and it is due to their actions and bravery that we were able to bring Jason and Andrew to justice.

“This was an incredibly detailed and lengthy investigation which has resulted in two men being imprisoned for a significant amount of time.

“I hope this case also sends out a strong message to everyone that even though some of the allegations were of age we will always do everything we can to investigate and bring offenders to justice no matter how much time has passed.

“I can only hope that their convictions and sentence today will help bring a little peace and closure to their victims.”
