Appeal for witnesses following assault in Southsea

Police are appealing for information after an assault that took place at the junction of Cottage Grove and Somers Road in Portsmouth

 

 

At approximately 12.30pm on Friday 21 January an altercation took place between two men.

 

One of the men, who is in his 50s, sustained injuries to his face and ribs as a result of the incident. He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital for treatment and has since returned home.

 

Officers have been conducting a number of lines of enquiry in order to determine the circumstances of the incident, including speaking to those present in the area at the time and reviewing CCTV footage. 

 

Officers appreciate that this incident took place several weeks ago, however their enquiries have now identified a key witness who they would like to speak to in connection with this incident.

 

They believe he spoke to one of the people involved in the altercation at the scene and we would like to hear from him.

 

He is described as:

 

 

  • Olive skin
  • In his late 30s
  • Approximately 5foot 9inches in height
  • Of slim build
  • Wavy black hair that was swept back
  • Short dark stubble.
