Firefighters were called to a blaze that broke out in a bedroom situated on the first floor of a property in Telephone Road, Portsmouth at 2.32 pm today.
Two occupants from the property safely exited prior to the arrival of firefighters from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
Smoke was seen billowing from windows at the front of the property via the front upper window and from the loft fascia.
Appliances from Southsea, Cosham and a command unit from Portchester were in attendance, the fire which is believed to have started in the rear bedroom of the terraced house was quickly extinguished.
Firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel and jets to stop the fire, technical ventilation fans were used to clear the smoke.
A stop message came in from fire crews at 3.58 pm and was stood down from the incident, a full fire investigation is now underway.
