Girl, 13, sentenced after pleading guilty to violent disorder at Aldershot protest

A teenage girl has today been sentenced for being part of a group that was involved in violent disorder during a protest in Aldershot.

The 13-year-old girl from Aldershot, who cannot be named for legal reasons, gathered outside Potters International Hotel along with approximately 200 people on Wednesday 31 July.

Some of the wider group were seen throwing objects at the hotel before banging on the doors. Others acted in a threatening way towards those staying inside the hotel.

Although the majority protested in a peaceful manner, the girl’s behaviour turned aggressive and she was seen violently kicking the doors at the hotel.

She was charged with violent disorder and pleaded guilty to the offence at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 13 August.

Today (Monday 30 September), she was sentenced to a 12-month referral order at the same court. It means she must regularly meet with the Hampshire Youth Justice Service.

It comes after four men were jailed for being part of the group that was involved in the violent disorder at the same protest. They all pleaded guilty to violent disorder.

Cameron Bowling, 41, of Broadhurst, Farnborough, and Clive Patfield, 60, of The Chantrys, Farnham, were both jailed for two years.

Kieron Marney, 25, of Fairview Road, Ash, was jailed for two years and three months.

Perrie Fisher, 28, of Hillside Road, Farnham, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and failing to surrender to police / court bail at the appointed time. He was jailed for 29 months.

Meanwhile, Alby Brannan, 18, of Winchester Road, Ash, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and is due to be sentenced on 29 November.

Jamie Lee Turvey, 34, of Montgomery Road, Farnborough, denied the offence and is due to go on trial on 14 April 2025.

Assistant Chief Constable Paul Bartolomeo said:

“The majority of people who attended this protest in Aldershot were respectful, however the girl was part of a smaller group that chose to act in an aggressive manner.

“While we appreciate her age, the girl’s behaviour was still completely unacceptable and her actions caused fear of violence to those inside the hotel and our officers.

“This result highlights that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and it is a clear message that these actions have consequences.”
