Officers investigating the assault of a man in Southampton over the weekend are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
At around 12.15am on Saturday (28 September) police received a report of an altercation taking place between a group of people on Shirley Road, close to Rio’s bar.
It was reported that a man had been involved in a collision with a silver Nissan Juke 4×4 during the course of the incident. Police attended and located a man in his 20s with minor injuries to his face and head.
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident. He has been released from police custody on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
Police believe there were a number of people in the area at the time who saw what happened and have yet to speak to police.
