A male was arrested following a violent assault against police
Police were called shortly after 6.30pm to Tesco supermarket in Craswell Street, Portsmouth, with multiple reports of an assault against a member of staff at the store.
A number of police vehicles desended to the incident where the male had left the store, following an area search a male was detained for the outstanding offences.
Whilst arresting the male it’s seen that the male lashes out at police causing injury to several officers, police managed to over power the male tackling him to the floor where he was placed in cuffs.
It’s understood that there was a verbal dispute within the store and a male was asked to leave when he became violent and assaulted the store worker, the male then left the store who was tracked CCTV where police swooped in to arrest the male.
With a nunber of officers around him the male then become violent and resisted lashing out at numerous police, the male was then swiftly tackled to the floor where he was placed in cuffs whilst other officers helld his legs to stop him kicking out.
Police was seen administering simple first aid to a colleague after he sustained a head injury in the incident, the male was then placed into a police van as on lookers described the incident as scary and disgraceful.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabluary have been approached for comment.
