Hampshire Constabulary have launched an investigation into a fire that ripped through a property in Kingsclere, Hampshire
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire after a body was recovered from the property after firefighters tackled the blaze.
Firefighters were called after smoke was seen billowing from a window at the property on King John Road, Kingsclere Hampshire at around 11.15am Tuesday 15th February.
Fire crews from Kingsclere, Basingstoke, Tadley, Fleet and Berkshire attended the blaze in King John Road which was well alight on arrival.
Firefighters tackled the fire using breathing apparatus sets, hose reels, jets and ventilation fans to contain the blaze to the two-storey property which was extinguished shortly after 1.26pm.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called at 11.18am yesterday (15 February) to a report of a fire at an address on King John Road in Kingsclere.
‘A body was found inside the property. Enquiries are underway to determine the cause of the fire.’
A spokeswoman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue added: ‘Hampshire and Berkshire firefighters were called to a house fire in Kingsclere this morning at 11:15.
‘Firefighters from Kingsclere, Basingstoke, Tadley, Fleet, Whitchurch and Sutton Scotney were assisted by RBFRS crews from Newbury.
‘Smoke was issuing from the property which was well alight upon arrival.
‘Police and ambulance colleagues are also in attendance.
‘The fire is now out with three fire engines set to remain on the scene as the other appliances return to station.
‘Crews used breathing apparatus sets, hose reels, jets and ventilation fans to contain the blaze to the two-storey property.’
