A major Portsmouth road has caused chaos this morning following a two vehicle collision
Part of Eastern Road, a major route in and out of the city, has been shut following the emergency incident that happened shortly before 6.00am.
A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “Road closures are in place on Eastern Road this morning as we are dealing with a serious collision. Please be aware that this is causing delays, so try and avoid the area if possible. Thank you for your patience.”
Accident scene investigators at the incident using forensic photography equipment with a number of markers mapped out in the road, it is unknown how long the road will remain closed but is expected to cause delays throughout the day.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area whilst investigations are completed.
An eye witness said: “There were emergency services everywhere with approximately 12 ambulances at the incident that occurred around 6.00am as they went to work, it’s really upsetting to see such a serious collision and hope everyone involved will make a recovery”
