🚔 Partial closure order granted for Basingstoke property following drug activity and anti-social behaviour

A partial closure order has been secured by police following reports of drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour at a property in Shelley Close, Popley, Basingstoke.

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court granted the order on Friday 19 June after hearing evidence of ongoing safety concerns and drug activity linked to the address.

The court heard that the behaviour of people attending the property was “likely to result in serious nuisance to members of the public.”

The order means that, for the next three months, only authorised people are permitted to enter or remain at the property. Anyone breaching the order will be committing a criminal offence and could be arrested.

The closure follows police action earlier this month, when two men and a woman were arrested after officers discovered approximately 100 wraps of suspected Class A drugs hidden in the garden of the property on Wednesday 10 June.

Inspector Tracey Purcell said: “We recently received reports of safety concerns and drug-related activity at the address. We took swift action, made arrests and gathered evidence to put before the courts.

“I’m pleased with the result at court today and I hope this proves that we listen to your concerns and do all we can to help reduce anti-social behaviour and drug-related activity in the town.”

Police say the closure order forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime and improve safety for residents in the Popley area.
