Portsmouth City Council have applied to the court for an order to move an illegal encampment in Cosham

The council issued a direction under section 77 to leave King George playing fields in Cosham on Friday 1 July, which has been ignored.
A further notice was issued at the site today informing the encampment of the legal action being taken against them, an attached summons was attached to the gate of the field.
Requesting to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Thursday 7 July in relation to the notice.
It comes following a number of illegal encampments that have setup across Portsmouth in the past weeks.
On Tuesday evening police exercised powers Under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, to move an illegal encampment that had appeared overnight at Wicor Recreation Ground in Portchester.
