Teenage Girl Seriously Injured in Portsmouth Crash, Emergency Services Respond

A 15-year-old girl was left with serious injuries following a collision in Portsmouth on Monday evening, prompting a significant emergency response.

The incident occurred on Copnor Road, near the junctions with Amberley Road and Larkhill Road, shortly after 6:20 pm. Witnesses reported seeing a heavy emergency presence in the area, with multiple police vehicles and ambulances responding to the scene.

Social media posts indicated the teenager was struck near a pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights.

Hampshire Police confirmed the girl sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The collision involved a blue DS 4 Crossback, and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.

An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, landing at nearby Alexandra Park. A spokesperson for the air ambulance service said,

“The air ambulance team, consisting of two doctors and a specialist paramedic, was deployed by helicopter, with an additional paramedic arriving by car.

Following treatment on scene, the patient was transported to hospital by road ambulance, accompanied by the air ambulance crew.”The incident caused delays in the area, with part of Copnor Road temporarily closed while emergency services attended the scene and gathered evidence.

Police are urging anyone with information about the collision, including dashcam footage, to come forward.
