Gosport PCSOs Remove Drug Driver from Roads
This afternoon, two PCSOs from Gosport’s Neighbourhood Team spotted a vehicle emitting thick plumes of smoke from the driver’s side window.
As they followed, a powerful cannabis odour filled the air, and at the next junction, they clearly saw the driver smoking a joint.
They immediately alerted the control room. An unmarked Roads Policing Unit officer, already nearby in Gosport, raced to assist.
A roadside drug wipe test confirmed cannabis in her system, with more found inside the car. She was arrested and taken to Portsmouth’s Eastern Investigation Centre for a blood sample, then bailed to return later.
We hear the arguments: “It’s legal elsewhere,” “You can get it prescribed,” or “Why not focus on rapists instead?”
Truth is, it’s illegal to smoke cannabis while driving here. Medicinal use doesn’t change that, and other departments handle serious crimes.
