Firefighters Tackle Blaze At Derelict Cygnet Hotel In Sandown
Firefighters were called to the derelict Cygnet Hotel in Sandown after smoke was seen coming from the building on Tuesday evening.
Crews were alerted at around 7.45pm on Tuesday, May 12, with four fire engines from Sandown, Ryde, Ventnor and Newport sent to the scene.
An aerial ladder platform was also deployed as firefighters used jets and hose reels to bring the blaze under control and stop it spreading.
The fire was fully extinguished and a stop message was issued shortly after 9pm.
Police have been informed as the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
