Drug Dealer Jailed After Police Find More Than 150 Wraps Of Crack Cocaine And Heroin In Basingstoke
A drug dealer has been jailed for more than five years after police uncovered more than 150 wraps of Class A drugs in Basingstoke.
Plain-clothed officers were on Worting Road at around 10.30am on Thursday, April 9, when they spotted suspected drug-related activity.
Cain Dorkin, 33, of Lime Tree Way, Chineham, attempted to flee from officers on a black pushbike but was detained nearby on Queen’s Road.
Following a search, officers found a bag containing 153 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.
Dorkin was arrested at the scene.
Police later carried out a search at an address in Chineham, where they located and seized a baton.
Dorkin pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, as well as possessing an offensive weapon in a private place.
He appeared at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday, May 13, where he was jailed for a total of 67 months.
Detective Constable Mel Hardman, from CID North, said:
“This outcome is a result of great proactive policing, and I’m pleased to say that another drug dealer has been taken off our streets.
“I hope this sentence highlights that our officers will continue to do everything in their power to ensure Basingstoke is not targeted by drug networks.
“We know that drug supply causes harm and misery to our communities and is linked to acquisitive crime, as well as some of the most serious violence we see.
“We are determined to keep relentlessly pursuing criminals to reduce the negative impact they have on the local community, making it safe for everyone.”
