Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered serious injuries yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 24 November) following an incident in Ascupart Street.
Police were called to the junction of Ascupart Street and Golden Grove just before 3.30pm where it was reported a man in his 40s had suffered serious injuries to his abdomen. His injuries were consistent with being stabbed.
The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
No one has been arrested at this time.
Officers remained at the scene last night to begin carrying out a thorough investigation at the scene.
Detective Inspector Claire Shawley said: “This was a very serious assault that happened in the middle of the day. The injured man was found in the street and we believe someone must have seen what had happened to him and who else was involved.
“If you were in the Golden Grove area yesterday afternoon and have any information at all that could assist us, please get in touch.
“We have been in the area today carrying out house to house enquiries and officers will continue to carry out patrols in the area this afternoon. If you have any concerns or any information that can help, please do approach them.”
