Last night, Portchester PCSO’s were out on patrol.
The PCSO’s decided to swing past the car park close to Westlands Grove to check if anything was going on. Fortunately, they did, as they found an unconscious teenage girl in the gutter of the car park.
Both PCSO’s got out the car to find two members of the public tending to the girl and calling her an ambulance. We took over from them and allowed them to get on their way. The Officers provided the girl with First Aid. Her condition improved, so we stood the ambulance down and our Control Room managed to get hold of her parents, who came and picked her up.
The PCSO’s then went for a drive and found some of her so-called “friends” nearby. They were all searched and had the remains of their alcohol seized and poured away.
What concerned us is that the girl had no friends with her when the two good Samaritans found her. They had all run off.
Our appeal to young people is to look after your friends. Don’t leave them if they are unwell, call their parents or an ambulance if needs be. I’m sure the parents would rather you call them, than us having to call their parents and tell them that their child is not coming home.
Parents, please let your child know what to do in an emergency. It is okay for them to call you, the Police or the Ambulance Service, should they get into difficulty.
Once again, a big thank you to the two passing members of the public who found the girl and called her an ambulance!
