A 53-year-old man has been left in a serious and potentially life-threatening condition following a brutal daylight stabbing on a busy Portsmouth road.
Police were called at 12:32 pm (Wednesday, 5 February) to reports of a serious assault on Kingston Road, near Kingston Crescent. Emergency services rushed to the scene, where the victim was found with a serious stomach injury before being taken to hospital for urgent treatment.

Five Arrests Made in Police Crackdown
Hampshire Police have made five arrests as part of their initial investigation into the attack. Among those arrested are:
A 39-year-old man from Portsmouth – arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a knife.
An 18-year-old woman from Portsmouth – arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.
A 23-year-old man from Portsmouth – arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of cannabis.
A 50-year-old woman from Portsmouth – arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
A 19-year-old woman from Portsmouth – arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
All five individuals remain in custody while police continue their investigations.

Police Reassure Public as Investigations Continue
District Commander Superintendent Paul Markham has reassured the public that, based on current information, there is no wider risk to the community.
“You will see officers in the area while we progress our enquiries,”

he said. “Anyone with concerns can speak to our Neighbourhood Policing Team, who will be patrolling regularly.”
