Man Jailed for 30 Months After Farnborough Burglary and Shoplifting Spree

A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after breaking into a home and stealing a car in Farnborough, as well as committing a series of shoplifting offences in Fleet.

Dale Carter, of no fixed abode, broke into a property on Oak Road at around 4:15 am on Monday, 8 July. He stole a wallet and car keys before driving off in a Kia Sportage parked in the driveway.

Officers quickly launched an investigation and located the stolen vehicle at around 5:40 am in Farnborough, where Carter was arrested.Carter was charged with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle, to which he pleaded guilty. He also admitted to seven counts of theft from various shops, including M&S, Superdrug, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons, where he stole over £750 worth of goods such as alcohol, furniture, cosmetics, and meat between 13 June and 7 July.

At Winchester Crown Court on 20 September, Carter was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison.PC Annie Brogan, from CID North, who led the burglary investigation, praised the officers involved.

Carter’s shoplifting offences also demonstrate the serious impact on local businesses, and this sentencing sends a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated.”
