Southampton men arrested following attempted burglary at Lymington convenience store

Officers investigating a burglary-in-progress in the early hours of this morning (5 August) in Lymington, have arrested two men.

The incident happened around 1.10am this morning, after two members of the public reported a burglary from a convenience store on Milford Road.

Two men were seen to gain entry via a broken pane in the entrance door, but quickly exited the premises and fled the scene. Nothing was stolen.

Police attended the scene and soon located a vehicle matching the description seen by witnesses and a short pursuit ensued. The occupants of the vehicle decamped and were arrested by officers – with the vehicle being seized as a result.

A 26-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of burglary, failing to stop when requested by an officer and aid / abet dangerous driving.

While a 35-year-old man, also from Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

They both remain in custody at this time.
