Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a report of assault in Basingstoke
Just before 11pm on Friday 29 July, police were called to a report that a young woman had been assaulted outside The Squirrels antique shop on New Street in the town centre.
She had been punched to the ground and knocked unconscious. She sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
Officers attended the scene and one was assaulted following the original incident. The officer sustained a minor injury.
Officers have been making enquiries and are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Officers believe there were people in the area that may have seen the incident.

As part of enquiries, a 23-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a person occasioning them actual bodily harm x 2.
He has been released on conditional bail and enquiries are ongoing.
