🚨 Portsmouth Sex Offender Jailed After Street Attack on Woman 🚨

A 35-year-old man has been jailed for 15 months after sexually assaulting a woman in Portsmouth.

At around 5.30pm on 7 July 2025, the victim was walking along Winston Churchill Avenue when she realised she was being followed. The man approached her, made sexual noises, grabbed her aggressively by the shoulders and made sexual comments towards her.

The frightened woman fought back as several passing motorists stopped to help and intervene.

Conor Hodgkins, 35, of no fixed abode in Portsmouth, was arrested shortly after the incident and later found guilty of sexual assault by a unanimous jury following a three-day trial.

Hodgkins was sentenced at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 12 June to one year and three months in prison. He has also been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and is subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detectives praised the victim’s courage throughout the lengthy court process and thanked members of the public who stepped in to help during the attack.
