Man Charged After Setting Fire to Duvet in Portsmouth Hotel Room
A 54-year-old man has been charged with arson after a fire was started in a hotel room at the ibis Budget Portsmouth.
Emergency services were called at around 12.15pm on Sunday, May 3, after a man allegedly set fire to a duvet inside his room. Hotel staff acted quickly to extinguish the flames before crews arrived.
Police arrested James Hutton, of no fixed abode, at the scene. He has since been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
No injuries were reported.
Hutton appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 4.
