Man arrested after suspected Class A drugs found following foot chase in Basingstoke
A man has been arrested after officers discovered suspected Class A drugs following a foot chase in Basingstoke yesterday (10 May).
Police were carrying out patrols when they were alerted by a Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Community Safety Patrol Officer to suspected drug-related activity at West Ham Park playground on Worting Road.
A group of people reportedly fled the area as officers arrived, but one man was quickly detained after a short foot pursuit.
During searches, officers located a bottle containing suspected Class A drugs, believed to be crack cocaine and heroin, along with £740 in cash. The items were seized.
A 23-year-old man from Ferndale was arrested on suspicion of two counts of possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug.
He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
