Man Charged After Stolen Van Pursuit Ends In Basingstoke Crash
A 30-year-old man has been charged following a police pursuit involving a stolen Mercedes Sprinter van on the M3, A30 and through parts of Basingstoke.
Police say the incident began on Wednesday 20 May after the driver of a stolen Mercedes Sprinter failed to stop for officers on the M27.
A pursuit then continued along the M3 northbound before the van later collided with a property in Linseed Way, Basingstoke.
Officers arrested the driver at the scene. No injuries were reported.
Nathan Moroncini, 30, of no fixed abode, has now been charged with:
Driving a motor vehicle dangerously
Driving a motor vehicle while alcohol level was above the legal limit
Failing to provide a specimen for analysis
Aggravated vehicle taking
The aggravated vehicle taking charge relates to a separate incident in which a Vauxhall Vivaro van was stolen from Knight Street in Basingstoke on 12 May. The vehicle was later found and recovered nearby.
Moroncini is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday 21 May.
