Burglar jailed for series of home break-ins in Farnborough

A 63-year-old burglar has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after stealing jewellery, watches, cash and other valuables from homes in Farnborough.

Paul Capon, of Clayton Road, Farnborough, admitted four burglary offences committed between September and October 2025.
On 22 October, Capon broke into a property on Hawley Road, Farnborough, stealing a wallet, cash, jewellery and a watch. On the same day, he also entered a property on Fernhill Walk, although nothing was taken.

Six days later, on 28 October, he targeted a home on Ashbury Drive, stealing jewellery, perfume, a watch, a handbag and electronic items.

He also admitted breaking into a property on Lower Wokingham Road in Crowthorne on 5 September, although no items were stolen during that incident.

Following an investigation by police, Capon was arrested and charged with:

Two counts of burglary dwelling with intent to steal
Two counts of burglary dwelling and theft
He pleaded guilty to all offences and was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on 4 June.

A second defendant, Emily Mills, 31, of Redan Road, Aldershot, admitted handling stolen goods connected to the Ashbury Drive burglary. She received a community order and was ordered to complete a drug rehabilitation programme when sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court in March.

Detective Sergeant Dan Lucas from the Northern Area Crime Team said burglary is one of the most intrusive crimes, often leaving victims feeling unsafe in their own homes. He welcomed the sentence, adding that it sends a clear message that offenders will be identified, brought before the courts and held accountable for their actions.
