Police Appeal For Key Witness Following Death Of Man Found In River In Southampton

Police are appealing for a potential witness to come forward as part of enquiries into the death of a man in Southampton.

On Monday 27 April, a man in his 30s was sadly found deceased in the river just off the public footpath in the wooded area near Coxford Road.

His death is not currently being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

As part of enquiries to establish the circumstances of how he came to be in the water, officers are hoping to speak with a woman who may have spoken to him shortly before he entered the water.

The woman has been described by other witnesses as being aged between 50 and 60, white, with grey and brown hair just below her shoulders. She is believed to be approximately 165cm to 170cm tall, of slim build, and had a number of bags with her, including plastic bags and a leather bag.

Police are asking the woman, or anyone who knows who she is, to come forward.
