Southampton Central’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, in partnership with the city council, have secured a partial closure order for an address in Wimpson Lane, Southampton, under Section 80 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act
The closure order, which comes into effect on Monday, 20 June, means that no-one except the resident will be allowed to enter or remain at the address from that date for three months. If they do they will be committing a criminal offence and can be arrested. Police will attach a copy of the order to the address and take action if any breaches take place once the order comes into effect.
Hampshire Constabulary applied for the order to address concerns around anti-social behaviour at the property.
PC Andy Barker from Southampton Central’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We’ve received a number of reports about anti-social behaviour at the address, which has caused misery for neighbours.
“We took action to improve the lives of local residents and would like to thank the community for their support and patience while we worked with partners to get the evidence to secure this order.
“These types of closures are not straightforward, as it ultimately means restrictions are placed upon someone living in their home.
“However, in instances like these we will do all we can to stop anti-social behaviour and the enormous impact it creates.”
Police work closely with partners to tackle anti-social behaviour, and anyone concerned about this sort of activity where they live should contact their neighbourhood policing team on 101 or contact police via our online reporting tool: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb/report-antisocial-behaviour/
