A Portsmouth male wants to trace a man he calls a hero after saving his life
On Thursday 16th June at around 11.30pm Kyle jumped from South Parade Pier, shortly after this kyle was heard screaming for help after being caught in strong currents in the sea.
Sandra who lives close by heard the screaming coming from outisde and looked from her balcony, she tthen saw a figure in the sea calling for help who was being dragged west by the current of the sea shouting for help.
A male also heard the calls for help and went rushing into the water in an attempt to rescue the male who was calling for help, Sandra then decided to get blankets and also rushed down to the rescue in aid of both males who were now in the sea.
Another male by the name of Darren also witnessed the incident and helped by shining a search light into the sea, this allowed the male to see Kyle in the water who would not have been seen without the light.
Kyle said: ” I really want to find the male that risked his own life to save me, without a thought for his own safety the male jumped into freezing waters to save me.
He could of easily been dragged in by the current like i was, it was a completely thoughtless decision to make, to rescue someone without any concern for his own safety. “
Sandra called emergency services who informed her that HM Coastguard had been tasked to the incident, Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service were also in attendance who later assessed Kyle and took him to hospital for further treatment.
There are very vague details regarding the male who jumped in to the the sea but both Kyle and Sandra would like to trace him.
He is believed to been named Micky, he has been described as a bald head, of medium build, upper arm tattoos and mid 20s to 30s.
Speaking with Sandra she said :
“ It was a very scary situation seeing a male close to drowning struggling to keep above the current of the sea, it was really distressing i have since made contact with Kyle and made a friendship but it was a very emotional moment.
Micky is a hero he swum out in search of Kyle trying to locate him in the dark, it wasn’t easy as the current was really strong, thanks to Darren with the help of his light he managed to locate him, he then battled to swim through strong currents whilst holding Kyle a float.
It was very scary to watch and I think for the person to risk his own life to save someone, that such an heroic action that he needs to be traced and thanked.
I just hope someone who knows Micky or Micky himself reads this and can come forward as Kyle would really like to meet him and thank him for saving his life .
Sandra has since been in contact with Kyle everyday since the incident happened, she then met with him a few days after the incident happened and has since formed a friendship.
Hopefully we can trace Micky and Kyle can finally personally thank him for saving his life. “
