Appeal after mother and daughter racially abused in Hythe

Police are appealing for information after a mother and daughter were racially abused in in Hythe

 

At around 5.50pm on Tuesday, August 2 the mother and her 11-year-old daughter were walking through Ewart Recreation Ground planning to play football, when a group of teenage boys and girls began to point and laugh at them. 

 

They decided to leave the area and headed into Hythe. The group followed them in to the town and followed them from shop to shop while shouting racist abuse at them. 

 

The main offender is described as: a teenage girl aged around 14, white, of average build and wearing black shorts and a black hoody. She had long dark hair and was wearing white slip on shoes. 

 

There were two other girls; described as being aged 13 to 16, white and both with long dark hair. One was of skinny build wearing a red dress and black Nike trainers. The other was wearing a grey hoody and black trousers.

 

They were also with five teenage boys, who are described as white and aged between 13 and 16. One was wearing a black jumper, black shorts and had short blond hair. Another had short dark hair, and was wearing a white t-shirt, a grey jumper worn over his shoulders and grey tracksuit bottoms. The third boy had short blond hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and carrying a black backpack. Another was of stocky build with dark hair and wearing black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt. The final boy had brown hair and was wearing a tan hoody, black trousers and black trainers.

 

PC Rich Diggins, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victims and I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have witnessed what happened.

 

“If you have any information about this incident or who you think may be involved, please contact us as soon as possible.”
