Appeal for Witnesses After Serious Van and Moped Collision in Southampton
Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision involving a van and a moped in Southampton.
The incident happened at around 6.20pm on Thursday 7 May at the junction of Kendal Avenue and Sedbergh Road.
A black Ford Transit van collided with a moped being ridden by a 13-year-old boy, who suffered a broken ankle and a head injury. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and he remains in hospital at this time.
According to police, the driver of the van initially stopped at the scene before returning to the vehicle and leaving the area prior to the arrival of emergency services.
Officers are now urging the driver, or anyone who knows him, to come forward. He is described as white, more than 6ft tall, with dark hair, and was wearing dark-coloured shorts, a dark T-shirt with a small white logo on the chest, and work footwear described as resembling safety shoes or boots.
The van is believed to have damage to the bodywork around the rear offside wheel arch, with the rear offside hubcap having come off during the collision.
Police are also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the moments leading up to it, or captured footage on Dash Cam.
