CCTV Appeal After Arson and Vehicle Break-Ins in Southampton
Police have released CCTV images following a series of arson attacks and vehicle break-ins in Southampton, and are urging the public to help identify a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incidents.
Officers say the offences took place across two separate dates in April and involve both theft and deliberate fires inside parked vehicles.
The first incident occurred on Wednesday 15 April on Thruxton Court, when a man is reported to have broken into a parked SEAT Ateca. Two bank cards were stolen from the vehicle and later used at a BP Garage on West End Road. During the break-in, the vehicle’s centre console was also deliberately set on fire.
The second incident took place on Friday 24 April on Bishops Road. A man entered a parked Vauxhall van, taking a cup from inside, before setting the wing mirror alight.
Police have described the man they wish to identify as white, aged between 20 and 30, with a slim build and dark hair. In both incidents he was seen wearing an oversized hooded coat and light-coloured trainers featuring a distinctive dark band around the laces and heel.
Investigators believe the man pictured in CCTV may have information that could assist their enquiries.
Anyone who recognises him, witnessed either incident, or has any relevant information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference 44260191005.
Information can also be submitted online via Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s reporting portal, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
