CCTV images released in ongoing Southampton murder investigation

Police believe the woman pictured may have witnessed something important to an ongoing murder investigation following the death of Ernest Konrad Deputat, 45, whose body was found in woodland on Southampton Common on Wednesday 8 October.

Ernest, a Polish national who was living off-grid and known to the city’s homeless community, was found north of Ornamental Lake. There was also evidence of a fire at the scene.

A murder investigation was launched following the discovery, and two men have since been arrested and bailed in connection with enquiries.

Officers are now looking to speak to the woman shown in CCTV images, who was seen walking a dog on Southampton Common on the morning of Saturday 6 September.

It is possible she has already spoken to investigators, but due to new information and further developments, police would like to speak with her again.

Anyone who recognises her, or who was in the area of Southampton Common that morning — particularly dog walkers who have not yet come forward — is urged to contact police.

Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital.
