A driver was stopped by police after overtaking a marked police vehicle on road hatchings, before officers discovered the vehicle was being driven without insurance.

The incident, described by officers as “not the smartest move”, resulted in the vehicle being seized at the roadside.

Police also confirmed the driver was issued penalty points following the stop.

The incident has been shared online as part of ongoing road safety messaging surrounding the “Fatal Five” offences, which include speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt, mobile phone use, and careless driving.

Officers reminded motorists to ensure they are properly insured before getting behind the wheel, warning that uninsured drivers risk having their vehicles seized, receiving points on their licence, and facing further action.

Police added the hashtags “#SillySausage”, “#DriveInsured” and “#Fatal5” alongside the post.
