Firefighters from Cosham, Southsea, Havant, Fareham and Portchester were scrambled to a block of flats at Portsmouth Road, Cosham shortly after 3.00 pm yesterday 28 August
The call came from a resident within the block of flats after they discovered a smell of burning from within the building.
On arrival, firefighters carried out a full search of the building and discovered a small fire above an entrance hallway.
They used a small extension ladder and a bucket of water to extinguish the small fire.
Fire crews then made safe the area where the fire started and a stop message was put in at 3.57 pm.
An investigation into how the fire started is now underway.
