A major Portsmouth Road has tonight been closed after a life changing collision between a car and pedestrian
The collision happened shortly after 5.00 pm on the Eastern Road junction with Burfields Road.
It’s understood that the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle close to the BP petrol station.
Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service and specialist medics from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance were in attendance, who gave life saving treatment to the pedestrian at the scene.
The casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance who is belived to be in a critical condition.
A road closure has been placed between the junctions of Tangiers Road and and Airport Service Road whilst a police investigation into the collsion is undertaken.
The road is likely to remain closed for sometime.
